Resources in Tanzanian primary schools are generally very limited and children are given little opportunity to read.

Because of the generous donation of benefactors, Tanzed has been able to establish libraries in twelve schools.

These are run by trained local teachers and essentially function as a library and resource centre for pupils, teachers and become a focal point for the local community.

The libraries provide a colourful new learning environment which motivates teachers and learners and gives access to resources which would otherwise not be available to them.

They also serve as an excellent venue for Tanzed to deliver other components of its work.
