We are currently working in twenty primary schools in the Morogoro region of Tanzania where we are focusing on developing and ensuring the sustainability of Tanzed’s community projects. These projects use the schools as a focal point within the villages to benefit the wider community.

Our key aims are to:

• Improve school management, principally parent and community participation
• Improve teachers’ skills through seminars and training
• Improve the learning environment by creating well-resourced libraries and nursery classes
• Support community projects through HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and school links project
• To improve access and continued attendance through primary school for the most needy children
• Provide support with secondary education

Tanzed UK is run by five trustees and a small group of dedicated volunteers. Our Morogoro office is run by Tanzanian staff - the Tanzed coordinator is supported by an assistant and field officers. They work with the local communities to manage the projects with support from volunteer board members.
